Ilkley Golf College is a high-performance sixth-form pathway created through a partnership between Ilkley Grammar School and Ilkley Golf Club, led by PGA Head Professional Glen Ient — a recognised specialist in junior golf development. The programme combines outstanding academic tuition with professional golf support, bringing together an Ofsted “Outstanding” school (2024) and a highly respected PGA Professional at one of the region’s most prestigious golf clubs.

Students also benefit from dedicated self-promotion guidance and access to additional US scholarship agents, significantly enhancing their visibility and opportunities within the American college golf system.

The programme provides a structured and professional environment designed to support the development of elite junior golfers through:

  • Two individual technical coaching sessions per month
  • Fortnightly 90-minute performance training groups

An Exclusive Pathway for Ilkley Golf College Students

1. Ilkley Golf College & Junior Membership (Entry Stage)

Students join the performance programme while still in sixth form, receiving structured coaching, course access, and full integration into the club environment. All successful applicants gain full junior membership at Ilkley Golf Club, providing access to competitions, facilities, and the wider club community—building strong foundations and long-term habits.

2. Ilkley Intermediate Membership

A key step supporting continued development into adulthood, offering:

  • Flexibility to train and compete while pursuing opportunities such as US scholarships
  • Preferential membership options exclusive to Ilkley’s pathway
  • A dedicated pathway for ages 18–32, creating a smooth transition from junior to full membership

3. Ilkley Lifetime Member

Having progressed through the pathway, many golfers remain members for decades. Ilkley has a proud history of long-term membership and has produced elite talent, including Ryder Cup captains Colin Montgomerie and Mark James.

US College Pathway

Students intending to apply for US collegiate golf programmes receive:

  • Support building player profiles
  • Swing video creation
  • TrackMan & performance statistics collation
  • Guidance on GPA/entry requirements
  • Promotion to US coaches
  • Marketing through GI Golf media channels

This pathway strengthens their visibility and recruitment prospects.

Entry Requirements

  • Programme capped at 12 athletes, with places allocated via ballot if applications exceed capacity
  • Must be a current Ilkley Grammar School student
  • Boys: WHS Handicap Index 9.9 or below
  • Girls: WHS Handicap Index 18.0 or below
  • Students must maintain an active WHS handicap through regular competitive play
  • Academic studies must remain at an acceptable standard — students may be removed from the programme if performance declines
  • Must meet all Ilkley Golf College behaviour and commitment expectations
  • Attendance at all coaching sessions is mandatory unless formally excused

Students also have the opportunity to join the programme during a gap year between securing a US scholarship and starting college, with additional work opportunities available through Ilkley Golf Club.
