Today, the semifinals and final of the Northumberland County Seniors Matchplay championship were played at Longhirst golf club.

The course was extremely well presented thanks to Graham and his staff. As usual they made us very welcome. There were a few unpleasant showers from the 6th through to 11th but overall the weather was good for golf.
In the morning semifinals Steve Anderton defeated Alan McBride five 5&4 and in the other semi-final Steven Findlay had to retire hurt so Kevin Cademy-Taylor went through to the final to play Steve Anderton.
Birdies at 2, 5, 6 and 11 saw Steve go 4-under and 7 up. The match finishing on the 12th with Steve winning 8&6.
Congratulations to Steve on becoming the 2024 Northumberland County Seniors Matchplay Champion. A very worthy winner.
